For me, it was an easy decision. When I saw on the Moishe House San Francisco calendar that they would be playing the inmates of San Quentin in a gentlemen’s game of softball, I knew I wanted in. I have driven by this maximum security prison more than a hundred times and have seen it on the news at least that many times with such high profile inmates such as Scott Peterson and Tookie. But, for the inmates, the decision is not so easy. In order to play on the official San Quentin softball team it takes a minimum of three years good behavior to just try out. If you saw how these guys played softball, you would know, making it to try outs is just the beginning…these guys can play!...The game played on and we lost. But, game two we sealed a victory and after some group photos by the prison volunteer, we said goodbye and “see you next month!”
