About

The Jewish community has successfully created the infrastructure for engaging young Jews from birth through college life. However, with an increasing number of young Jews waiting to start families until their thirties, our community is faced with a new transient demographic of young adults in their twenties who are focused on exploring their identities, trying new jobs and taking advantage of advanced education. Thus far, the Jewish community has struggled to find vehicles that effectively engage young Jews in this demographic. With this in mind, Moishe House was created by David Cygielman and Morris B. Squire to cultivate a meaningful and attractive pathway from Jewish college life to Jewish family life.

With generous support from national foundations, Moishe House has been able to create a successful and replicable model with a lean national infrastructure. We are committed to excellence and are currently undergoing a three-year evaluation with an outside consultant to better assess our impact and continue improving our model. In each city, we are partnering with local funders to support and grow our houses along with working to secure more national funding to increase our capacity and effectiveness.

In just a few short years, Moishe House has achieved substantial growth and is now recognized as one of the most innovative and effective Jewish programs in the world. Since 2006, several of our accomplishments include:

  • Attracting more than 100,000 young Jewish adults in total attendance to 7,000 events and programs.
  • Establishing 30 Moishe Houses in 10 countries on 5 continents.
  • Creating a framework for a variety of programs revolving around Jewish community, Jewish learning and Tikkun Olam.
  • Selection by Slingshot as a Top 50 Innovative Jewish organization.
  • Features in more than 25 publications including the Washington Post, CNN, PBS, Jewish Journal, Ha'aretz, Jerusalem Post, Chicago Journal, The Forward, and Jewish Weekly.
  • Residents participating in Limmud, Taglit Birthright Israel, AIPAC's Policy Conference and many other prestigious leadership programs.
